The story and explanation of why Knuckles hates Julie-Su, and what leads to her revenge...
Chapter One: A Not-So Great Day
It was going to be a great day, Knuckles just knew it. It was a really positive feeling he had. No Rouge, no eggbots, no tricking, no Eggman, no Sonic, no being called "Knucklehead"... just a day without any annoyance. He sat down and started reading a book.
A few minutes later.
"...Hello? Hello!" called a girly-sounding voice.
Knuckles hated being interrupted while he was concentrating.�
"Tails! Can't you see I'm busy? Go bug Sonic instead!" he yelled.
"Tails?! I'm not Tails! Does he really sound that much like a girl?" the voice asked.
"Huh?" Knuckles wondered. It wasn't Rouge, it barely sounded like her. It's a good day anyway, he thought, so there's no way it could be Rouge.
He turned around. He saw a pink thing standing a ways away.�
"Amy Rose?!" he exclaimed. No, she wasn't wearing a red dress, but a black and turquoise vest.
"No! Come here silly!"
Who the heck is this weirdo? And they're totally invading my privacy. This good day isn't turning out as well as I thought. Knuckles thought. He sighed and got up. When he got closer to the pink thing, he noticed it was actually a pink echidna. Which was extremely surprising to him since he thought he was the last echidna left. His father died and his mother and step dad with their baby, well, they kind of disappeared. And Tikal didn't really count.
"Who are you?" Knuckles asked.
"I'm Julie-Su, Knuckles." she replied.
"How do you know my name creeper?! And I don't even know you and you're another echidna..."
"My father, he told me. He's friends with your step-dad, that Wyn guy. We live in a place called Echidnaopolis. Anyway, we needed your help since you are strong..."
Echidnaopolis? Yuck. I'm starting to think being the last one was better, Knuckles thought.
"Sorry person, I'm not interested in helping you with your little scam." Knuckles turned around and walked back over to where he was sitting.
"It is not a scam!" Julie-Su screamed. "I will get Sonic if I have too."
"Sure, do whatever you robots in echidna costumes." Knuckles replied looking at Julie-Su's robotic arms. She even only has two fingers on each hand! What the... He thought.
"It was the only way I could survive." Julie-Su sobbed. "So what if I'm half robot, half echidna..."�
"...Are you friends with that weirdo Sally Acorn?" Knuckles asked.
"Sally Acorn? Who's..."she began staring into Knuckles' eyes. It almost felt like they were burning into his.�
"What are you doing you freak?!" he asked.
Julie-Su walked closer to Knuckles, slowly. Out of being freaked-out, Knuckles reacted by punching her in the face and knocking her over.
"What was that for?!" Julie-Su screeched, rubbing her face. "I was in the middle of soultouch! You ruined it!!!"
"Soultouch?!" Knuckles yelled. "Get out! Get out of here! You're annoying, creepy, part robot, trying to scam me into saving people that don't exist, and now you're trying to "soultouch"?! What even is that?! Get out of my home, I don't want to see you here again!!!"
"Clearly you don't quite understand," Julie-Su got up and brushed her vest off. "All echidnas have a special ability called soultouch. It's when two echidnas make a special bond with their soulmate. And I have with you-"
"Ew! No! Leave me alone!" Knuckles interrupted.�
"You didn't let me finish!" Julie-Su cried. "But obviously you being isolated in this place for so long with nobody but like Sonic and Tails around once in a while has really messed it up. Eventually you'll get the soultouch ability, it's in every echidna. If I made the bond with you then you should have made it with me."
"I feel sick." Knuckles mumbled. "Can you just leave? Please?!"
"No! We need your help Knux!"
"With WHAT?!"
"Echidnaopolis is in great danger! Without your help, the whole species could be gone forever!"
I don't really want my species to die...again. "If my stupid species was dead like I thought it was, then YOU wouldn't exist!"
"Knuckles dear, you will figure it out eventually."�
And, Knuckles thought, and this is about the worst day of my life.
Four years later Knuckles, only four years later to come, and you really WILL be having the worst day of your life.
Trust me.
Chapter Two: Climbing Plant
"Can I go take a look at your books? Maybe we're even interested in the same stuff!" Julie-Su asked.
"Yeah, sure, go ahead." Knuckles replied.
The moment Julie-Su turned her back, Knuckles bursted into a full sprint and jumped right off the floating island and started gliding away. He couldn't wait to get away from this crazy psychopath.
He made it to the town, and stopped for a break.
"What a fangirl! She's freakier than Amy Rose is with Sonic!" he panted.
"Who's a fangirl?" Tails suddenly appeared next to Knuckles.
"This scary pink echidna that just appeared out of no where. She is so freaking scary you wouldn't even believe it. Worse than Amy."
"Is that-" Tails began.
"Hey knucklehead, who's your girlfriend?" Sonic asked.
"What?!" Knuckles cried.
"Hi Sonic! Hey Tails!" exclaimed a voice.
Knuckles was paralyzed.�
"Hi, who are you?" Tails asked kindly.
"Exactly what Sonic said, believe it or not." Julie-Su replied.�
"Noooooo..." Knuckles mumbled.
"That's cool, surprised someone would date a knucklehead." Sonic joked.
"He is not a knucklehead, he is my sweety pie!!!" Julie-Su tried to hug Knuckles.
"Get off you freak!" Knuckles screamed. "I don't know who you are or why you want to ruin my life, but could you get THE HECK out of here?!"
"Um..." Sonic mumbled.
"He hasn't found his soultouch ability yet." Julie-Su explained.
"Knuckles...are you shaking?" Tails asked.
"I don't know..." Knuckles replied. But what he did know is that he had to get away from this Julie-Su person, and quickly. He didn't like her one bit.
"Oh, okay, uh-huh." Sonic said to Julie-Su's explanation. Then he whispered to Tails, "what the HECK is soultouch?!"�
"Um, I don't know, but it sounds like some gross romance thing I don't care about." Tails whispered back.
Just then, Silver teleported right behind Knuckles, mumbling something about the iblis trigger. Knuckles grabbed onto his arm. "Please Silver, teleport and take me with you so I can get away from this freaky Julie-Su person! I'll do anything for you! I could help you find the iblis trigger thing or whatever!!!" Knuckles begged.
"Sorry, the iblis trigger shall not be found by anyone else." and he teleported away again.
"Jerk!" Knuckles yelled.�
"My sweety is going to help Echidnaopolis from great danger!" Julie-Su exclaimed.
"You know, I always thought echidnas were basically extinct..." Sonic said.
"A lot of people do actually." Julie-Su remarked.�
Knuckles started creeping away.
"Knuckles! Don't ditch your GIRLFRIEND!!!" Sonic screamed so everyone could here.
Amy Rose was skipping happily down the road with her soft-served ice cream. At the sound of this, she stopped dead in her tracks, her ice cream dropping.
Big dropped Froggy in the lake and then caught him with his fishing rod when he heard it.
"Sonic! You..." Knuckles yelled. He started running away.
"Sonic, that was mean. You know how much he was terrified of this creeper, you know?" Tails spat.
"I am not a creeper!" Julie-Su yelled.
"Person, I would kindly give you a ride to wherever Knuckles ran to." Sonic suggested.
"Really?! That would be great!" Julie-Su exclaimed. Sonic picked her up and ran in Knuckles direction as fast as he could.
Tails was horrified. How could Sonic have done that to poor Knuckles? Then he had an idea.
"Hey, Amy! How would you like it if I gave you a ride to wherever Sonic's going?" he asked.
"Okay!" Amy agreed. So Tails picked up Amy and flew after Sonic.
Chapter Three: Warning! Keep Away From Water!
Knuckles ran and ran and ran, hoping that Julie-Su could never catch up to him. Finally when he came to a river, he decided to take a break for a moment.
"There he is!" Julie-Su exclaimed.
Knuckles turned around, and saw Sonic holding Julie-Su.
"Nooooo!!!!" he yelled. He jumped into the river.
"Oh no, I can't swim! I hate water! Sorry!" Sonic confessed.
"I can't really swim either, only because I'm part robot." Julie-Su sighed.�
Tails finally caught-up to Sonic. He dropped Amy by accident.
"Sorry!" he cried.
"Sonic!!!" Amy Rose screeched and ran up to him.
"Tails! How could you?!" Sonic asked.
"You did it to Knuckles." Tails replied. "Where is he anyway?"�
"He swam off." Sonic sighed.
"I know, I can glide after him." Julie-Su said. She started gliding after Knuckles who was swimming down the river.
"Yoo-hoo, Knuckles!" she called out.
Knuckles took a breath and ducked underwater.
"You know Knux, we're heading straight in the direction of Echidnaopolis. So this is actually helpful." Julie-Su explained.
Knuckles could only hear a muffled girly voice underwater. Why does this totally random girl have to appear out of nowhere and automatically become my girlfriend?! He thought. This is terrible, just absolutely terrible.�
Knuckles came back to the surface to breathe. Julie-Su was now running along the bank after him.�
"We're gonna have a kid, Knuckles. Her name will be Lara-Su, that is, if she's a girl. What do you think would be a good boy name?" Julie-Su asked.
"Shut up!" Knuckles yelled, and went back underwater.�
"Oh dear, I hope he finds his soultouch ability soon..."
Just then, Knuckles' foot got stuck in a log underwater as he was trying to turn around. He tried to swim to the surface so he could breathe, but he couldn't reach. Oh no! He thought. I'm gonna drown and this weird Julie-Su person is right here and now I can't get away from her!!!
"Knuckles...where are you?" Julie-Su asked. She looked in the water and saw that he was stuck.
"Oh no he's drowning!!!" she screamed at the top of her lungs. Risking her robotic life, she jumped into the water. She started to get electrocuted while she tried to free Knuckles, which kind of electrocuted him too.
"Ow!" Knuckles' shoe fell off and he started swimming quickly away, still heading in the direction of Echidnaopolis.�
"Knuckles! Don't....leave...me...!!!" she cried. She tried to pull his shoe out of the log. She got it out and then quickly ran out of the water and fell down.�
Chapter Four: Tails' Plan
Tails thought he heard screaming coming from down the river.
"Oh my God! She is creepy, but I hope Knuckles isn't killing Julie-Su!" Tails cried. As Amy bothered Sonic into eternity with her future plans, Tails flew down the river. He spotted Julie-Su laying on the side of the river with smoke around her, holding Knuckles' Jamaican coloured shoe.
"What the heck!" It seemed to him something horrible happened, to Julie-Su and most-likely Knuckles.
"What in the world happened?!" Tails asked as he landed beside Julie-Su.
"Knuckles got trapped...and he was drowning...so I jumped in the water...and saved him...but I got electrocuted and he swam away!"�
"You could have called us for help instead of nearly killing yourself..." Tails mumbled. "I'll go find Knuckles." He began to fly down the river and spotted Knuckles swimming fairly fast down the river.
"Knuckles!" Tails called out.
Hearing his little kid/girly voice made Knuckles jump to conclusion that he was yet being followed by his creeper partner. He began swimming faster.
"Knuckles, it's me, Tails!" Tails exclaimed.
"Oh, thank God! What do you want?" Knuckles asked, slowing down.
Tails flew down to the surface of the water by Knuckles.
"Julie-Su is hurt, you know." he informed.
"Do you think I care...?" Knuckles grumbled. He was happy enough to get away from that creeper.
"Knuckles! I know she is scary and annoying, but that is a horrible thing to say...at least take her back to her home and you may not have to see her again."
"I'm not carrying her, I'm not taking her back, I want absolutely NOTHING to do with her!" Knuckles yelled.
"Look, I'll carry her back, as long as you come with me. It's your only chance to possibly get a rid of her...for good." Tails suggested. "Without killing her, of course."
Knuckles sighed. "Fine. As long as its quick and she doesn't come back." he turned around and followed Tails back to where Julie-Su was laying.
Tails landed beside her. "Here's your shoe," he passed Knuckles' shoe over to him. "I hope she's not that heavy..." he mumbled. He picked her up. Luckily, Julie-Su was, surprisingly, not that heavy.
"...Knuckles...? Have you finally found your soultouch ability...?" Julie-Su murmured.
"No, it's me, Tails. We're gonna take you back home and...do you have parents?"�
"Yes..." Julie-Su replied.
"Well, they can take care of you, okay?" Tails replied.
"That is kind of you." Julie-Su mumbled.
"Then why not be his girlfriend then, instead of mine?!" Knuckles grumbled.
"He's a fox, he's eight, and you are my soulmate."�
"No I'm really not..." Knuckles muttered.
"Knuckles, apparently we are distant relatives! Isn't that wonderful?" Julie-Su exclaimed, feeling some-what better as Tails carried her while flying and Knuckles swimming towards Echidnaopolis.
"Ew!!! So you want to be with me, have a kid AND you're related to me?! That's just...just...wrong!" Knuckles gagged.
"I think it just makes us that much closer," Julie-Su tried to adjust herself so she could look at Knuckles. Disgusted, Knuckles ducked underwater. The rest of the trip was pretty silent.
Chapter Five: Welcome to the Underworld
After a while, the river turned into a small lake. Knuckles swam to the shore and got out of the water.
"It's freezing out." he cried.
"That's because you were in the water for so long!" Tails exclaimed. "Okay, now what?"
"See that little cave just ahead? There's an elevator to Echidnaopolis just in there." Julie-Su replied.
"Soooo...It's underground?" Knuckles asked.
"Yeah." Julie-Su said. Tails landed by the cave and they walked in. There was a glowing sign that said "Echidnaopolis" on it. Below was an elevator door. Tails pressed the elevator button. It opened up, and they walked in. Tails pressed the down button.
"I feel as if we're going to H..." Knuckles mumbled.
Tails looked at him, worried. It did feel as if they were going to the "underworld", or however you want to call it.
"Guys, don't be silly. We're echidnas, what did you expect? Of course it's underground." Julie-Su laughed lightly.
Ding!
The elevator opened. They stepped out, and before them was a large underground city.�
"Where do you live?" Tails asked.
"The last house to the right of Snorty Street. Snorty Street is like right in front of you." Julie-Su explained.
"Um, okay..." Tails nodded.
"Snorty Street?" Knuckles cried.�
As they walked down, a weird old man echidna with a camera stopped them.
"You look like friendly chaps! How about a photo? It's free!" he exclaimed.
"Ooooh, a photographer!" Julie-Su exclaimed. "Surely I'll be able to stand for the photo!"
"Um... Okay...." Tails set Julie-Su down. They each stood there, and the photographer took a picture of them. He handed Julie-Su the photo after.
"Thank you!" she squealed. Tails picked her back up. Julie-Su shook the photo all over the freaking place so she could actually see it, which was really bothering Tails.
"Yay! Now I have my very own photo with Knuckles! ...And Tails!" she screeched in Tails' ear. Tails cringed. He peered at the picture. Knuckles was off to the side looking in the other direction.
"If only you smiled more, though." Julie-Su mumbled. "Mind if I keep the photo?"
"No." Tails replied.
"Not at all." Knuckles grumbled. Why would I want a picture of her anyway?!
They continued to walk down the street. They walked up to the last house and knocked on the door. A creepy old grandpa echidna with a Santa beard answered the door.
"What the heck!" Knuckles mumbled.
The old guy didn't see Knuckles who was standing behind Tails and Julie-Su.
"A fox? What in the name of St. Chuggington! Are you losing it Julie? I said Knuckles the echidna!!!" he exclaimed, scratching his beard.
"Oh, hi Grampy, this is Tails. Knuckles is right behind us." Julie-Su replied. "I jumped into water...I can't move."
"My my, Julie-Su. Don't you know the water ain't safe for you, dear?" The grandpa echidna person shook his head in dismay. He pointed his cane at Tails' face, nearly poking his eye.
"Well, you are quite the cute one. Too bad you ain't no echidna. Not even Knuckles." he said.
Tails got where the old man was heading with this. "I'm only eight," he cried, "and I have no interest in romance!"
"Really, well...let's see, thank you for helping my granddaughter. But why didn't ol' Knuckles help? I'm bamboozled." Julie-Su's grandpa wondered.
"Well, uh, you see..." Tails turned around. Knuckles was still there, surprisingly, but he looked extremely annoyed. "We need to go. There's, a uh...funeral! Yeah a funeral we need to go to and if we don't go we will be late."
"That why you look so glum, lad?" the grandpa asked Knuckles.
"...uh, yeah, partly..." he lied.
Tails set Julie-Su down on the floor of her house. His arms were really starting to ache.�
"There's just one other thing!" Julie-Su cried. "Can one of you go in my room and grab my sketchbook?" She asked.
"Um...sure..." Tails mumbled. "Where is your room?"
"Just up the stairs at the end of the hall! My sketchbook is on my table. It's blue and has some weird French words on it."
"Okay..." Tails ran up the stairs, and Knuckles ran after him.
"Tails!" Knuckles cried.
"It will only take a sec!" Tails said, speed-walking down the hall. He stopped at the last door at the end with a poster of Knuckles on it. Scribbled in pen at the top of the poster read "Julie-Su's Room".
"Figures." Knuckles grumbled.
Tails opened the door, and their mouths nearly hit the ground. Julie-Su's vibrant pink bedroom was covered with Knuckles posters.
"Oh my God!" Knuckles cried.�
"There's her desk!" Tails pointed.
"You go get it!" Knuckles yelled, pushing Tails into the room of obsession.
As Tails walked over to Julie-Su's desk, he was creeped-out when he noticed there were even Knuckles dolls on her bed. He stalled.
"What are you doing? Go!" Knuckles asked.
"Um, yeah, kay..." Tails quickly grabbed a blue sketchbook that said BONJOUR on it and tried to run back. However he tripped over a Knuckles dustbin thing and dropped the book. The book landed in front of him opened and Tails nearly screamed. There on the page was a really scary, (and failed) drawing of Knuckles and Julie-Su with a creepy baby in a stroller and at the top it said "Lara-Su".
"Oh my-" Tails gasped.
"What is that?" Knuckles picked-up the sketchbook. He took one look at it, then reacted by throwing the thing back in Tails' face accidentally and running off.
Tails got up, and followed Knuckles back down the stairs with the sketchbook in his hand.
Tails threw the sketchbook at Julie-Su and ran out the door after Knuckles.
"Wait! Knuckles, I thought you were gonna help us!"
"Didn't you hear Tails? We need to go to a funeral." Knuckles replied, still running away.
"You'd choose me over a dumb funeral for some nobody, wouldn't you dear?" Julie-Su asked.
Two words exploded in Knuckles' mind: HECK NO!�
Tails stopped.�
"Tails, what are you doing?" Knuckles cried.
"Come back, there's something I need to tell you," the creepy Santa guy called.
Knuckles and Tails sulked back over.
"Lad, we need you, and we need you now! Tails, you may go to your funeral. But Knuckles, you must stay."
Suddenly Julie-Su remembered something. "Um, grandpa, he ca..." She began.
"Not now dear."�
"That is not fair! Why can't Sonic help you guys instead, you evil Santa man?!" Tails growled.
"Well I'll be! He's quite the little nuisance!" the grandpa rested his leather-gloved hands down on Tails' shoulders. "You see laddy, Sonic is a hedgehog, and he's known for his speed. Knuckles is an echidna, and he's known for his strength. We need strength, and we need an echidna."
"Why do you need an echidna?" Tails wondered, puzzled. "Don't be racist against other species!"
"Er, no, that's not exactly what I mean, ah, you see, if the strong echidna was a girl, then uh, that wouldn't work quite as well, um, you know...you get what I'm grasping at?" the Santa man explained.
Knuckles thought for a moment. "No!" he yelled, and ran off.�
"Oh dear, I think we just scared him off." the grandpa sighed.
"Why don't you take Julie to the hospital, and I'll go look for him! Sound like a plan?" Tails asked.
"Splendid!" the grandpa exclaimed in a strong British accent.
Tails ran off, began to fly, and tried to look for Knuckles. It was extremely hard however, since there were so many echidnas, and red was also a common colour.�
"He must have already left," Tails mumbled to himself. So he headed back to the elevator. Knuckles was standing there, pounding on the doors, but not hard enough to actually break them.
"What's wrong?" Tails asked, landing beside him.
"The elevator won't open!" he cried. "We're stuck here forever!!!"�
"Great!!" Tails yelled. "That's just absolutely, positively GREAT!"
"This place is H..." Knuckles mumbled.
"Let's go to a hotel I guess. Hopefully the elevator will work by tomorrow. Are you sure nobody's using it?" Tails suggested.
"Who would? I've been here for a few minutes now. I'm sure." Knuckles sighed.
"Okay."�
Chapter Six: Great News at the Arthur Hotel!
Knuckles and Tails sulked over to a nearby hotel. They walked inside.
"Hello, welcome to the Arthur Hotel. How may I..." said an orange echidna behind the till with a top hat.
"Hello?" Knuckles yelled.
Arthur Hotel? Tails thought.
"Are you...Knuckles?" the top-hat echidna gasped.
"Yeah! I'm Knuckles! Get over it, it's not that big of a deal! I just want to have a place to sleep, okay?!" Knuckles yelled in frustration.
"Wilson! The cameras! BRING THE CAMERAS!!!" the top-hat echidna screamed. A red echidna with a monocle, a mustache, a tuxedo and a top-hat as well grabbed a news camcorder with a picture of Mew on it that said "Mew News" on it and faced it at Knuckles. A bunch of other echidnas jumped out of nowhere holding microphones.
Knuckles hated crowds, and he hated it when people didn't leave him alone. He was a bit of a loner I guess. But he really didn't like this.
"Why is everyone so British around here?!" Tails inquired. "And why in the world is this hotel called 'the Arthur Hotel'?!"�
Obviously, no one paid a heed to Tails whatsoever.�
"This is Wilson McWilson on Mew News here today, and guess who had to show-up at the Arthur Hotel but Knuckles the echidna?!" Wilson, the very British red echidna screamed at the camera. He then ran over to Knuckles with it, shoving it in his face. "What made you decide to show-up here, lad? Hmm?"�
"Um...I just wanted a place to stay at..." Knuckles mumbled.
"Ooh, I see..." Wilson said.
At the hospital, Julie-Su was laying in her bed. It was now a couple hours later after the incident at the hotel, and there was a TV playing in her room. Knuckles appeared on it and she right away paid close attention.
"What made you decide to come to Echidnaopolis, anywho?" Wilson asked.
"Some creepy girl got hurt and we had to take her back here..." Knuckles replied.
"Aw, how sweet!" Wilson exclaimed, obviously oblivious to the "creepy" part. "Is she your girlfriend? What's her name?"
"No way! Her name is Julie-Su!"�
"Just confess, you like her."�
"Noooooooooo I don't!!!!!!!" Knuckles yelled. "She is creepy! Tails was the one that made us come here, really!"
Julie-Su sighed. "When will he ever find his soultouch ability? That isolation really did trash it." she shook her head. "He'll get it, I just know."
"Well Knuckles, it is so fortunate for us to find you. Echidnaopolis is in a great danger from total disaster. We are in for a huge cave-in, and we can't get our elevator to work. With the help of your strength, you could help us out of here..." Wilson explained.
Just then, a certain bearded, old, Santa imposter echidna jumped in front of Knuckles on the screen.
"We also need him.." he began, "for..." the TV began fuzzing.
"What in the world is going on?" Julie-Su cried. She grabbed the remote and switched it. It was playing a stupid infomercial about a creepy kid's toy that looked like the Tails Doll and a clown mixed together.
Something had happened.
Chapter Seven: Two Annoying Girls
The next day just before noon, Julie-Su was capable of moving again, and they let her go. No one was there to pick her up, however. Not her grandpa, not her father or her mother...not even her grandmother!
"That's strange," she mumbled.�
The first place Julie-Su wanted to go to was the Arthur Hotel. It was not too far from the hospital, so she made it there in good time.
Julie-Su bursted through the creaky doors of the hotel. "Yoo-hoo, where's my sweety Knuckles?!" she screeched, nearly piercing whoever's ears that were in the lobby.
The top-hat orange echidna, also known as Sir Krinklestein K. Snegon was angered by her screeching.
"Lassy, can't you see you're in a hotel? There are people who might be still asleep! Keep hush, okay?" he said.
"Oh, sorry Sir Krinklestein. But is Knuckles here?" Julie-Su asked.
"Er..." Krinklestein murmured. "Yes, but are you..."�
"Oh, he'd be delighted to see me! Gimme the key card and floor and door numbers!" Julie-Su demanded. That is, she thought, if his darn soultouch ability has healed already.
"Yes ma'am!" Krinklestein gave Julie-Su the key card and the numbers she needed.
"Thank you kindly." Julie-Su smiled.
Up in their room, Knuckles and Tails were playing a video game. It was Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. They were battling on random mode, and they got one of Knuckles' levels.
"I'LL PROTECT THE MASTER EMERALD!!!" Screamed the 3D Knuckles from the game.
"Yay, I got you!" Tails exclaimed.
Rouge the bat appeared on the screen.
"NOOOOOOOOO!!!" Knuckles yelled.
"Ha ha!" Tails laughed.
The door handle moved.
Tails and Knuckles both turned to look.
The door opened.
In stepped a certain pink, scary, half robot echidna that was overly-obsessed with Knuckles.
"Oh, Knuckles! You are here!" she squealed. She ran over to where Knuckles was sitting on the second bed beside Tails and tried to hug him.
"NOOOOOOOOO!!!" Knuckles shouted. He threw Julie-Su off of him and she crashed into the screen which was still showing Rouge for some weird reason.
"Let's get outta here!" Knuckles cried. Before Tails could even reply, Knuckles grabbed him and ran out of the room and into the hotel elevator.
"Poor Knuckles. His heart must be broken. He needs to learn what he needs is me to find his inner love." Julie-Su rambled on to herself.
Knuckles and Tails darted out of the Arthur Hotel. But to their horrible luck, Julie-Su's father stood directly in front of them, in their way, with a stern look on his face and his hands on his hips. He was a scary-looking dark red echidna with a Kirk mustache.
"Knuckles, is it?" he asked in a deep, creepy voice.�
"Yeah...how do you...know my...name?" Knuckles stuttered.
"And that must be that meddling fox, Tails." Julie-Su's father grumbled. "Always thought you were that Sonic's best bud, but okay..."
Meddling fox. This guy sounds like Dr. Eggman, Tails thought.
"My name is Googoo."
Googoo.
Goooooogoooooooo.
Knuckles and Tails, although terrified, almost bursted-out laughing. But they didn't.
"Knuckles, you know this by now, but you were brought here to save all the echidnas from a cave-in expected soon, but also..." Googoo explained.
Knuckles cringed. He knew the worse part was about to come.
"...also to be my daughter, Julie-Su's soulmate forever."
The last word "forever" felt as if it had been dragged-on forever.
"Why?" was all Knuckles could ask at this moment. He didn't understand. Why? Why was he forced to be with this creeper? He was a loner, he liked to be alone. Did he really want to be bothered to eternity every day for the rest of his life by a horrifying pink echidna that was, even worse, half robot? And she was his relative, too. It seriously couldn't get any worse.
"But no marrying, for the sake of soultouch. We don't want to have to deal with divorcing and all that. But you will have a kid." Googoo added.
Okay, it just did get worse.�
Chapter Eight: Annoying Garbage
Julie-Su ran out the door of the Arthur Hotel.
"Oh there you are, by honey bunny!" she squealed. "Oh, hey dad!" she walked up to everyone.�
Googoo grabbed Julie-Su and Knuckles with each of his hands and squished them next to each other.
"You two are the absolute perfect couple!" he exclaimed.
Tails was getting fed-up with all this Knuckles-Julie-Su pairing crap. Just leave the freaking guy alone. It's almost like peer pressure, Tails thought, and I know Knuckles hates that! But this was just absolutely ridiculous!�
"For God sakes, why won't you ever just leave Knuckles alone? He doesn't like Julie-Su! What part of that don't you get?! She's creepy, annoying, clingy, scary, pink, half robot, stupid...let him have some God darn freaking free will, you idiots! I'm really starting to feel bad for him! Thank God I'm only eight years old!!!" Tails screamed in both Googoo and Julie-Su's faces.
Knuckles was surprised. Tails had just stood-up for him. Normally because of Sonic, Tails wouldn't ever say such things. He may think them, but he wouldn't say them.
Googoo sighed. "There's a lot you must understand, my dear Tails. I'll explain it to you." he grabbed Tails and walked him around the Arthur Hotel building, ditching Knuckles and Julie-Su by themselves.
Googoo sat down at an old picnic table. Tails sat on the other side.
"You see, young Tails, echidnas have something which is called soultouch. Each and every one of us have it. It is when two echidnas have a special bond with their soulmate. Well, my daughter, Julie-Su, she almost soultouched with Knuckles before she even met him in person. So I immediately knew he was perfect for her. But now that we actually needed his help, I figured it was the absolute perfect time for him to come here, help us, and finally meet his soulmate, and, they would become the rulers of all echidnas of our society and have a kid and live happily ever-after. But by the looks of it...Knuckles' soultouch ability is broken. And I'm hoping being around his soulmate will help to repair it."
Googoo explained.
"I see." Tails nodded. Oh God, Tails prayed in his mind, please don't let Knuckles have that stupid soultouch ability. Please, I'll do anything. Just let him be.�
Chapter Nine: Tails' Big Fear
The worse thing Tails could imagine was when he walked back around the Arthur Hotel, Julie-Su and Knuckles would be kissing. Seriously, Tails would have a severe mental break-down if he saw that. Because then he would be so alone in this creepy place.
To his relief, he didn't see that. To his dis-relief, they weren't even there, which gave him the horrible thought that Knuckles could have found his soultouch ability and...
"My, I wonder where they went." Googoo said with a positive sound in his voice.�
Oh no. Tails thought. I don't like that tone in his voice.
"I can fly around and try to look for them," Tails offered.
"That would be splendid!" Googoo exclaimed.
"But first...why is it called the Arthur Hotel?! No one has answered me yet!" Tails asked.
"Oh, I think it's named after Arthur, that weird cartoon about the aardvark or something." Googoo explained. "Now hurry along, little boy. Don't dawdle,"�
Tails took off in flight and began searching for either Knuckles or Julie-Su. They could be anywhere, literally anywhere, he thought.
After ten minutes of searching, Tails got frustrated and decided to ask people for help. He stopped an elderly granny echidna that looked somewhat surprised that a random eight-year-old fox with two tails that was flying around in Echidnaopolis just appeared out of nowhere to stop her.
"Have you seen a red echidna with spiky hands or a pink echidna with a half black half blueish-greenish vest and is part robot?" Tails asked.
"You mean Knuckles and Julie-Su? I think they went into a lovely restaurant together. Called the Anteater Nose Effect Heart or something." the old granny replied.
What the heck? What kind of name is that for a restaurant... Tails thought. But then he realized, why the heck did Knuckles and Julie-Su just go into a romantic-sounding restaurant together? And how does this random old granny know all this?!�
"Oh no!" he cried, with a noticeable worried sound in his voice. He turned around, and saw a weird restaurant with glowing heart lights all over, and a picture of a creepy anteater, that wasn't even anthropomorphic. Tails ran in. Inside the restaurant it was playing weird love songs, and there were a bunch of tables with two people sitting at each. But he didn't see Knuckles or Julie-Su, at least not right away. Tails ran to a weird echidna waitress girl who was standing at the front. "Hey, did Knuckles and Julie-Su come here? They're red and a pink echidnas!" Tails asked, a little worried.�
"Oh, yes of course, cutey little fox, they are right there." the waitress turned and pointed into the large room with the tables and customers. Tails followed where she was pointing, and gasped with horror. There he saw Knuckles and Julie-Su kissing.
Chapter Ten: Tails' Escape
Tails' legs almost fell. "NO!" he yelled. He ran out of the restaurant.
"I think it's sweet that they're kissing." the stupid waitress mumbled. "Weird kid."
Nooooooooo!!!! Stop!!! Arrggh!!! I hate you!!! Knuckles screamed in his head. He was about to shove the terrifying pink half robot half echidna off of him when he thought he saw Tails looking at him in horror and disbelief. Oh no! Knuckles thought. Just as Tails turned around and ran out the door, Knuckles shoved Julie-Su off of him and she went flying through the room, landing on someone else's table, ruining their lunch.
Knuckles jumped up and ran out of the restaurant after Tails.
Tails almost began to cry as he flew at top-speed away from the restaurant. I want to go home, he thought, back to my workshop. Back to Sonic, even Amy Rose, Big, Shadow, the dreadfully boring Cream and even the teleporting, iblis trigger obsessed hedgehog Silver. I just want to get out of here, away from Knuckles, Julie-Su, Googoo, Echidnaopolis...EVERY ECHIDNA THAT EXISTS I WANT TO GET AWAY FROM!!! Tails thought. He flew way over to the far-corner of the city, a dark place that felt lifeless. Tails landed over there. "I'm gonna leave," he grumbled to himself, "I don't know where I'm going, what dangers I'll meet, if I survive, and if I'll even ever get home. But whatever happens, I am leaving, and I'm never coming BACK!" he screamed, and began running away into the darkness.
"Tails!" Knuckles called as he ran away from the scary restaurant. "Tails! I can explain! It was Julie-Su, not me!!"�
Just then, Googoo appeared out of nowhere. "Oh, there you are son. Where is Julie-Su?" he asked.
"I left her back at this scary anteater heart restaurant place." Knuckles replied. "Have you seen Tails? I'm worried about him."
"How come you're worried?" Googoo wondered. "He went to go look for you."
"Er...it's kinda a long story..." Knuckles mumbled. "He saw Julie-Su kissing me and he ran away."
"You kissed Julie-Su? Oh dear God! You found your soultouch ability! Bless you my boy! Let's go get Julie-Su and save Echidnaopolis!" Googoo ran off towards the restaurant without letting Knuckles say anything else.
"Idiot!" Knuckles grumbled, and instead of following after Googoo like Googoo expected, he ran off in search for Tails.�
Chapter Eleven: Two Idiots and a Traitor
Knuckles ran up to the first person he saw, a weird old granny.�
"Hey, have you seen a random young fox with two tails?" he asked.
"Oh, quite frankly dear, I have seen him twice." the granny replied. "First he asked me where you were, and then not that much later, I saw him above, flying that way. I think he could have been crying..." she pointed with her cane behind her.
"Thanks," Knuckles said, and ran off. He felt horrible. He knew it wasn't even his fault, but Julie-Su's. She dragged me into that dreadful place, he thought, and then kissed me. Yuck! And then Tails saw. Poor Tails, now he must feel...so alone. I need to find him, and get out off this dreadful place!
Googoo ran into the Anteater Nose Effect Heart restaurant. He saw Julie-Su laying on a table, and people all gawking around the scene.
"What in the name of Saint Chuggington?!" Googoo screamed.
Julie-Su hopped right off the table and ran to go hug her creepy father.
"I kissed him, dad! Can you believe it? I really kissed him!" she squealed in delight.
"I'm so proud of you dear! But...why were you on the table?" Googoo asked.
"He threw me across the room with excitement, I suppose. He finally found his soultouch ability!" Julie-Su replied. "Have you seen him, though?"�
"Uh, actually I have, eh? He should be right...where'd the lad go?" Googoo let go of his robotic daughter and looked around.�
"Check outside." Julie-Su suggested. They both ran outside, but they only saw Wilson skipping down the road with a lollipop singing the Muppets theme song to himself.
"I know, we'll go ask Old Granny Applebee. She knows everything about everything." Googoo said.
"Do you know where she is?" Julie-Su asked, clenching onto her father's arm.
"She either hangs out around here, or on Dreadlocks Avenue." Googoo replied. "I don't see her around here, so let's go check out Dreadlocks Avenue."
So the scary echidna named Googoo and his terrifying pink robotic daughter ran down to Dreadlocks Avenue.
There was Old Granny Applebee, trying to beg for money on the side of the road. Googoo and Julie-Su ran up to her.
"Have you seen Knuckles, the red echidna with spikes on both his hands?" Googoo asked.
Old Granny Applebee chuckled. "My my, everyone today is asking if I've seen someone!" she exclaimed. "The last time I saw him he asked me if I saw a fox with two tails. Then he left down that way." she pointed in the direction with her cane.
"Thanks," Googoo said, and they ran off in the direction.
Knuckles ran and ran until the city was starting to end. In front of him was just a big hole of darkness. Anything could be out there, he thought, and if Tails went out...he's only eight! He could die out there! It's all Julie-Su's fault. God do I hate her. Knuckles then ran into the darkness, hoping to find Tails alive.
Googoo and Julie-Su stopped at the edge of the city and stared into the blanket of darkness.
"Do you think...dad?" Julie-Su whispered.
"The Darkness. No one ever goes out there." Googoo mumbled.
"We need to go! I want my soulmate! Please?" Julie-Su pleaded.
"Yes dear, we will find him. We need him anywho to help us. How come Tails would go over here, anyway? Did he really think you and Knuckles came way out here?"
"Maybe..." Julie-Su mumbled.
Chapter Twelve: The Town Meeting
He was starving. He was lonely. He was sad. He was angry. He was sick. He almost wanted to die...
Tails was the most depressed he had ever been since he woke up that one day and hadn't known what was going on. He only had known his name, his age and that he could fly. But he was much more depressed now. His friend had betrayed him, he was stuck in a creepy underground place soon to cave-in...he just wanted to be back above ground, with his best friend Sonic. Maybe now I know why Sonic never really liked Knuckles, Tails thought. Stupid knucklehead! I hope he dies! And at that thought, Tails began running.�
"I think I know what," Googoo began, "That Tails and Knuckles could have left to find a way outta here, eh?"�
"Dad, you must be right! Let's go tell the town now!" Julie-Su exclaimed.
At the town square, everyone was there in a crowd, looking at the mayor, who looked some-what like Wilson but without a monocle and a more orangey-red colour.
"Hello everyone, today we have great news. Let Googoo here with his daughter Julie-Su talk to us." the mayor stepped away from the small desk with the microphone and let Googoo stand behind it.
"Knuckles and that meddling fox Tails went off into the darkness, in search of a way out." Googoo announced. "So we must all go out there, in that direction of where they went." Googoo pointed in the direction of where Knuckles and Tails had left.
Julie-Su jumped behind the stand, shoving her father over. "Also, I believe Knuckles has found his soultouch ability!" she screamed into the microphone.�
The crowd winced and groaned as Julie-Su's screeching voice pounded in their ears. Then once they realized what she had said, they all cheered.
"So, everyone, first grab your stuff that you need and whatever, then meet Googoo and Julie-Su at..." the mayor looked at Googoo.
"We can meet at McWalrus Nose's!" Googoo said, referring to a messed-up fast food restaurant at the corner of town in the direction of where they were heading.
"Marvelous!" the mayor agreed. "Everyone get ready now. In less than an hour, we shall all meet up at McWalrus Nose's!"
About an hour later, everyone from town met Googoo, his wife and Julie-Su at McWalrus Nose's. Julie-Su's mom was a creepy pink echidna as well that wore weird track clothes and had freakishly long eyelashes. Her name was Momma-Su.�
Once they were sure everyone, or at least almost everyone was there, they began to walk off into the darkness, in hopes of finding Knuckles and Tails, and especially a way out.
Chapter Thirteen: Things Get Straightened-Out
Tails felt very tired. It must be pretty late, he thought. And I haven't eaten since this morning! He sat down by a rock, resting his head against it. He quickly, but surely fell asleep right away.
Knuckles was walking through the darkness, hoping to find Tails soon. Just then, he thought he heard the screaming of a young boy.
"Tails!" he shouted. He was tired, but he ran after the screaming. He found Tails laying by a boulder, kicking and screaming about traitors and kissing or something.
"Tails! Tails!" Knuckles bent down and shook Tails. Tails opened his eyes, and saw Knuckles.
"I HATE YOU!!!" Tails screeched. With all his power, he punched Knuckles in the nose. Knuckles fell over.
"Ow!" he mumbled. Tails got up.�
"Leave me alone, traitor! I don't want to ever see you again! I want to see Sonic! I wanna go home!!" he yelled. He started running away.
"No, Tails! I came all the way out here to find you! I can explain! It wasn't my fault, it was Julie-Su's! I still hate her!" Knuckles shouted. He started running after Tails.
"Yeah right!" Tails growled. "I saw you kissing! You found your stupid soultouch ability or whatever!"
"No, Julie-Su dragged me into that creepy restaurant, and then she kissed me!" Knuckles explained. "Right as I saw you leave, I threw her across the room! I swear! I hate her so much, she and Rouge are both horrible in their own ways!"
Tails stopped running. "Do you...really mean it?" he whispered.
"Yes, Tails." Knuckles replied. "I don't think I have that stupid soultouch thing to begin with..."
"Thank God. I'm not alone." Tails�
sighed with relief.�
Chapter Fourteen: Questions
Knuckles woke up. He had no idea what time it was, whether it was morning or what. He looked around, and saw Tails just getting up as well.
"I'm starving," Tails moaned.
"Me too," Knuckles sighed, "but maybe if we keep walking we'll find a way out of here." he got up, and so did Tails.
After hours of walking, Tails thought he spotted a small light way up ahead.
"Do you see that?" he asked, pointing up ahead.
"...yeah..." Knuckles nodded. "Let's go!" he and Tails began running towards the light. As they got closer, they noticed that the light was much, much higher than they thought.
"Good thing you can fly and I can climb!" Knuckles exclaimed as they hurried along.
"Yeah, having two tails you can fly with sure comes in handy!" Tails remarked.�
They got tired, and sat down on a large rotten root for a break.
"I'm thirsty!" Tails complained.
"I know, me too, we're almost there." Knuckles said.
"I don't know about you, but this darkness is really starting to bother me." Tails cried.
"Actually, I don't really mind it." Knuckles declared. "But I'm not really a big fan of light."
"You know what I just noticed?" Tails asked.
"What?"
"If here in Echidnaopolis everyone is stuck, and the elevator only works to come here but not to leave, then how the HECK did Julie-Su get out to go see you?!" Tails cried.
"That's a good question! I knew this was a scam!" Knuckles shouted in frustration. "I've been tricked again!"
"Also, what ever happened to that evil Santa guy?" Tails added.
"Evil Santa guy?"�
"Yeah, you know, Julie-Su's grandpa? He appeared during that whole news hour thing at the hotel, right as I left to go to the washroom. When I came back to the lobby, there was only that weird orange echidna with the top hat, and you were already in the room. Wilson wasn't even there. What the heck happened?"
"Well, um..." Knuckles mumbled.
"Yoo-hoo, is that my honey bunny sitting there with his fox pal?!" called that painfully irritating voice.
Knuckles just wanted to smash his head against a concrete wall.
Tails turned around. Instead of seeing just Julie-Su and maybe Googoo as well, he saw a whole mob of echidnas walking towards them.
"Knuckles, I think the whole town has came after us!" Tails exclaimed.
Chapter Fifteen: Silly-Luscious Stalkers
Knuckles got up and turned around. Julie-Su ran up to him, jumping up and spreading-out her robotic arms for a hug. Knuckles darted out of the way just in time, so Julie-Su did a face-plant onto the cool dirt ground.
"Knuckles, silly!" she exclaimed, not sounding too very annoyed.
A creepy pink echidna with stupidly long eyelashes walked up to Knuckles.
"Oh, so you're this Knuckles person my daughter always talks about." she said. "I'm Momma-Su, Julie-Su's mom."
Just then, a certain red, irritating-looking echidna that Knuckles knew came up, holding a freaky red echidna baby with a rock rattle.
"Hi, Knuckles! Long time no see!" he exclaimed in a hippyish sounding voice.�
"Na-Na!" screamed the baby, trying to hit Knuckles in the head with its messed rattle. They were Wynmacher, Knuckles' step dad, and his son Knecapeon Mace. Or just Kneecaps, which barely made any sense because he didn't even have spikes on his knees.
"Um, hi." Knuckles mumbled. "Where's Lara-Le?" Knuckles hated his mom so much, he didn't even call her mom. Only by her name.
"I don't know, she disappeared. Said it was for our own good or some silly-luscious thing like that." Wyn replied.
Silly-luscious? Knuckles thought.
Julie-Su finally got back up and hopped over to her father.�
"We figured you two left to go find a way out. Old Granny Applebee had told us you two had gone out here." Googoo explained.
"Yeah, about that, if you guys can't leave Echidnaopolis, then how the heck did Julie-Su leave to come get me?!" Knuckles asked.
"Oh, simple." Googoo said. "We had one escape pod built, but it was only big enough to fit one person. So we sent off Julie-Su."
"How'd you know the elevator worked to come back down?" Knuckles wondered.
"Well, we knew it had to because one time it opened and some psychotic wolf came out and it caused quite the fight." Googoo explained. "And even if it didn't work, at least there would be both a male and female echidna to keep the species kicking."
Ew. No. I rather my species would die out, Knuckles thought in disgust. And then what would our kids do, anyway? Have kids with each other? Oh wait, and our kids would be mental too since me and that freak are related. Yuck. That's just...gross.
Just then, there was a rumble.
"What was that?" Tails asked.
"Oh no!" Googoo exclaimed. "Have you guys found an exit?!"
"Yeah, maybe, that light up there," Tails pointed.
"Let's go, dad! It's about to cave-in!" Julie-Su cried. "Come on, Knuckles, my soulmate!"
Knuckles and Tails began running towards the light with the whole town behind them.
More rumbling came, and dirt and small rocks began to tumble from the sky.
Echidnaopolis was about to cave-in, the whole entire thing.
Chapter Sixteen: The Cave-In
Knuckles and Tails ran up to a dirty wall with some kind of lopsided staircase carved into it.
"Up here!" Knuckles shouted. They all began climbing up as Tails flew just above Knuckles.
A large piece of ground fell very near to them.
"Hurry!" Googoo cried.
A rock fell on Momma-Su's head, and she fell down.
"Momma-Su! My darling!" Googoo cried out. He jumped down to try and save her, but he fell way back down to the bottom.
"Dad! Mom! No!" Julie-Su cried. She started climbing faster to catch-up with Knuckles.
More rocks and dirt fell. The staircase even began to crumble. Knuckles was just in reach of the opening, which was actually fairly large, but not too large. Tails was flying just behind Knuckles, when Julie-Su shoved past, nearly knocking Tails out of flying and potentially killing him.
Knuckles was just about to climb out to freedom when Julie-Su grabbed his right arm.
"Knuckles, my hero! We will live together forever. We will never break-up, my dear. You are my world."
Knuckles exhaled heavily, then turned around to face Julie-Su. Tails gasped. Knuckles' eyes seemed to be glowing red, like demon eyes.
"You know what, Julie? I hate you, I want you out of my freaking life, I wish you never, ever, EXISTED!!!" And with that, he punched Julie-Su right in the face, causing her to tumble down the whole staircase. People gasped and gaped at Knuckles. Knuckles just looked at them, then quickly climbed out. Tails flew after him, letting the rest of the echidnas escape.
Chapter Seventeen: Knuckles and Tails Return
Knuckles and Tails ran off, ditching all the other echidnas by themselves. They didn't know where the heck they even were, but they hoped they were close to town or something.
"Knuckles, you never told me what happened with that Santa guy." Tails remarked.
"Oh right." Knuckles sighed. "He was the first one to tell me about that whole 'become Julie-Su's boyfriend forever' thing. I was so furious I kinda grabbed the news camera..."
"Okay?" Tails said.
"Well, he was being really stupid about it. I sorta hit him with the camera...and him being old..."
"You killed him?!"
"No! But I think I hurt him quite a bit...after that, everyone just sorta left. They were like, 'it's not your fault.' And I was told to go to our hotel room." Knuckles explained.
"Oh, okay..." Tails mumbled.
After a while, they ended up at a lake.�
"Thank God, I am so thirsty, I don't care if this water is dirty." Tails exclaimed. He started drinking the lake water. "Ew!" he said. "It tastes messed!"
Knuckles thought he saw a purple stripy blob on the other side of the lake.
"Is that that Big moron?" he asked.
Tails squinted. "I think so," he exclaimed. "That must mean we're not too far away from everyone else!"�
So Knuckles swam through the lake while Tails flew above him. Tails landed near Big and Knuckles got out of the water next to Tails.
"Hi Big, do you know where Sonic is?" Tails asked.
"Duuuuurrrr...dunno, Tails. Ask Knuckles." Big replied.
Tails face-palmed.
"Let's just go!" Knuckles grumbled. "Thanks for your time." he grabbed Tails and ran off.
"Our kids will be pink and blue! And I'll name all the pink ones and you can name all the blue ones!" squeaked Amy Rose's girly voice through the trees.
"Home sweet home!" Tails exclaimed. "Hey, Sonic!" he called out, and ran after Amy Rose's annoying as heck voice.
Knuckles sighed. Now I understand why Sonic takes that fox everywhere, he thought. He's actually a pretty good friend. He ran after Tails.
Amy Rose was, of course, bothering Sonic into eternity once again.
"Sonic, if you think she's creepy, you need to know Julie-Su a little more." Knuckles exclaimed.�
"Yeah, Sonic!" Tails nodded.�
Even if Sonic and Amy really cared or not, Knuckles and Tails told them the story of what had gone on in Echidnaopolis.�
And Knuckles hadn't known what was planned for him later on...
Epilogue:
The cave-in was over. Echidnaopolis was trashed. All the echidnas had fled by now, although some had gotten crushed under falling rocks and clumps of dirt.
The dust in the air was now settling, and the robotic echidna opened her eyes. All the memories came back to her. The last one: Knuckles punching her and herself falling down the staircase, truly believing it would be her death.
He tried to kill me, she thought. He has no soultouch ability.�
